Ford Bronco Upfitter Switches: The Aussie-Designed Upgrade Your Bronco’s Been Missing…
AUX 4… was that the light bar?
Picture this. You’re out exploring around Lone Pine, California, the s
un starting to drop behind the ridge lines, and you reach up to turn on your LED light bar. Flick. Nothing. Flick again. Hang on, which switch did I wire it to? You pause and think, If only these Upfitter Switches in my Ford Bronco had icons, I wouldn’t be in this position. Flick. Ahh, finally. Let there be light. They’re strange times, and we never expected to find ourselves here: an Australian company coming to the aid of an all American hero. Yes, I’m talking about the Ford Bronco. A legacy, a story, and above all a workhorse designed to roam and conquer the great beyond. I’ll try not to get ahead of myself, but it seems Ford missed one small detail with the Ford Bronco Upfitter Switches. And, well, we have a solution. So strap yourself in, we are about to go for a wild ride.
Lost in translation
So let’s start from the beginning. Here in Australia, terms like “upfitter switch” or “toggle switch” don’t get thrown around much. Yes, we love our slang (“bugger” or “chuck ‘em in me ute”), but we still have our own way of naming things, especially when it comes to cars. I mean, we did design and build the ute. Before I go o on a tangent, a confession. We’ve always been secretly jealous of our cousins in the USA. Sure, they take over landing to crazy new levels, but what really gets us is how spoilt for choice they are with the Ford line-up. Our Next Gen Rangers are smaller and sit lower, and frankly they can’t be modified “legally” to the extent we see at SEMA videos on YouTube. That said, the Ford Ranger has been Australia’s number one selling vehicle for some time now, and it’s earnt its place. Aussies have been modifying these rigs till the cows come home, with brands offering aftermarket accessories from A right through to Z.
