Mt Hotham

Rising high above the Victorian High Country, Mt Hotham is a true alpine escape, a mother mountain with sweeping views that stretch beyond the eye can see. In winter, it transforms into a snow-covered wonderland, where crisp air, powdered peaks, and rugged ridge lines make it feel worlds away from the rest of the state.

Mt Hotham offers some of the most exhilarating skiing and snowboarding in Australia, with terrain suited to beginners through to seasoned riders. During winter, parking permits are required, and snow chains must be carried, even if conditions seem light, dusty alpine weather can change quickly.

In warmer months, the Great Alpine Road offers scenic views and designated roadside camping, while nearby spots like Porepunkah and Buckland Valley provide free bush camping at the mountain’s base.
