I enjoy long hikes that push me both physically and mentally, usually spending three to four hours on the trail. It’s about experiencing the environment, clearing my mind, and being fully present in nature, away from technology and distractions. Bambarakanda Waterfall is one of my favourite locations, especially in the colder months. The hike is challenging and adventurous, rewarded with incredible views along the way, including Sri Lanka’s tallest waterfall. Knowing the area is home to wild leopards adds to the sense of respect and awe for the landscape, and finishing the hike beside the large, beautiful lakes makes the entire experience feel complete.
