Tub-a-licious: Let’s Turn Your Dull Tub Into Something A Little More Inviting…

Everyone Forgets About The Rear, Until Now…

Let’s be honest, your tub’s been doing a lot of heavy lifting (literally) and getting very little credit for it. Tools in, tools out, camping gear shoved in at 5am, and not a single thank you. It’s about time that changed. We didn’t reinvent the wheel, we just greased it. Studied the factory option, fine-tuned every detail, and made ours better. Much better. Because a dark, dull tub was never good enough, not for the job site, not for the campsite, not for anyone who actually uses their ute the way it’s meant to be used.

So here’s how we turned “just a tub” into something worth talking about.

Considering there is already a factory LED light installed to the tubs of the Ford Rangers and Volkswagen Amarok’s, who would have thought an upgrade was required? This is something that was born from the early morning grind on the job site and the calm of an afternoon camp site.

Our Ute Tub Light Assembly is an easy, drop-in replacement for all Ford Ranger, Ranger Raptor, Ranger Super Duty and Volkswagen Amarok’s that have the factory tub body. If you're someone that finds themselves working out of the back of your Ute frequently when there is a noticeable lack of light, this upgrade is for you.

We started by retaining the factory fitment and connector, no need for a resume filled with electrical work, this will plug and play like you bought it straight from the accessories department of your local dealer, with the bonus of choosing between a warm white (5000 Kelvin) or Amber (1500 Kelvin) light to suit your desired use.

Of course, just making it look pretty, adding colour options, and plugging into the factory wiring isn’t worth the effort, we of course pumped a bunch more light into a light most people can now actually get excited about.

Why white or amber?

One thing we always keep in mind when designing our products is versatility for all users. As a team of people that are frequently burning the candle at both ends whether it be on a morning shoot, weekend adventure, or the thousands of tasks one finds themselves attending to outside of daylights business hours.

To the reason we offer the warm white (5000 Kelvin), this is perfect for the tradies rocking up to site early to get a head start on the day. This is ideal for any work you undertake straight out the back of the tub allowing pure visibility to anything you’re working on.

As for amber (1500 Kelvin), this is the light we all like to see around the campfire, it is a lot less harsh when you’re enjoying the view and there is a blaring white glow compromising the serenity. Amber is just something that feels at home when you are anywhere but. It has a seamless place at a campsite but also aids in the minimizing of bugs in comparison to white, we all know the white light is basically a beacon for all the flying critters within a 15km radius.

“We didn't just want to make something that worked, we wanted something that looked like it belonged there from the factory, that meant going back to the drawing board more times than we can count....…"

Design is for the wicked. If any of you paid any attention to our Auxiliary Switch Caps, you will know we strive for something that brings a factory feel but has the finesse of a DEXON touch to make it look modified, yet still something that is hidden to those outside the know.Much like the Auxiliary Switch Cap, this went through countless iterations to ensure fitment across the board, lasting performance, and something you never look back on with regret.

Not everyone will know this, but also, why would you need to, but the Ford Rangers have to different parts for this tub light. One that suits painted tubs, and another to suit plastic tub liners. Not that the light itself any physically any different but the presence and absence of a rubber pad on the back is what defines the fitment. The painted body model has no pad as the light can sit flush against the tub. The rubber pad is purposed to create a space and lift the light out to sit flush on the models with a plastic tub liner. Why does this matter, well given that we have incorporated our design to work with both by having a flush spacer and a larger one, it no longer does. Whichever tub style you have, we can assure you this comes with all the components to make it work.

But I have the factory fitted roller shutter! This is a weird one but during the installation of the factory roller shutter, they switch up the harness that is dedicated for the tub lights for one that caters more to the roller shutter and having access to open or close it from the cabin. The tub lights become secondary, and a small harness piggy backs off the now roller shutter harness to power the tub lights but now has a much lower current available. We have already begun development into a version that will work with these vehicles that shouldn’t be too far down the track. We have added a ‘notify me’ field to the product page when you select these options so we can inform you as soon as we have stock available.

Wanting this for something other than a tub?... Funnily enough, one of our team members did some Tom foolery and managed to mount this to the rear of his
Toyota 80 Series Landcruiser roof rack making a more than useable light for his tray making an ideal light for firewood collection. So yes, as mentioned we fully intend our products to reach further than our intended purpose. In the box you will find a factory plug to positive and negative wire tails, so yes, if you want to get creative, we won’t stop you.

“For most, packaging is generally overlooked and tossed in the trash, regardless we pride ourselves on premium packaging and ensure it overdelivers..."

Packaging until the end! One thing we strive ourselves on is minimizing our footprint, this comes down to making lasting products and packaging that is considered. We make sure that after safe transport to your eager hands; the box doesn’t become something it’s not. With recyclable materials and no little plastic bags, you can have a cleaner conscious knowing it can be recycled responsibly. That is if you can bring yourself to throw it away... Like I said, it’s something we strive ourselves on.

So, are you ready for us to brighten your rear end? All said and done, as proud as we are whenever a product leaves us destined for a life of improving someone setup, our
Ute Tub Light Assembly is something for all those that are using their Ute as intended, to be the reliable work horse or the capable tourer. We are comfortable almost anyone will be able to fit this themselves without the need of the hourly labour charge.

In the rare instance you find yourselves stuck, we all have that one mate that only needs a slight whisper, and they’ll be at your front door, at the very least, you can always call us, we do sometimes get lonely...

If you have read this far, I think it’s time you treat yourself and give yourself some useable light in the tub and make any task undertaken from the tub just that little bit easier.
